The Atlanta Gladiators announced they have collected a whooping 15,067 teddy bears and stuffed animals during Saturday night’s annual Teddy Bear Toss game against the Cincinnati Cyclones eclipsing last year’s total, which was 14,526.
Each stuffed animal collected will be donated to one of the following: Streetwise Georgia, The Children’s Hospital of Atlanta, the Ronald McDonald House, the Salvation Army, American Kidney Services and other organizations around the Atlanta area.
Attendance for the annual event was 8,237 marking the second largest of the season for the Gladiators.
Reece Vitelli was the one to unleash the teddy bears from the crowd at Gas South Arena, scoring his ninth goal of the season just 51 seconds into the game.
Atlanta is headed on the road for the next five games. The Gladiators will return home to Gas South Arena on SundayFUNday, February 26th. to take on the Fort Wayne Komets. The Kelly Cup will also be setup on the main course for fans to take selfies with the ECHL’s championship trophy. Puck drops at 3:00pm.
