Hawks rallied to beat Suns on Pride Night

The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Phoenix Suns on Pride Night presented by Your Atlanta Area BMW Centers at State Farm Arena.

To tip off the festivities, Voices of Note’s Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus (AGMC) will sing the national anthem. The Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus is one of the world’s longest-running gay men’s choruses and has long been a catalyst for social change, providing an opportunity to be inspired and to journey into the perspectives of LGBTQIA+ neighbors, teachers, siblings and friends.

Over the past year, it has been an honor and privilege to serve on the Atlanta Hawks Pride Council, giving recommendations and guidance on how the organization can take a very visible stance toward the promotion of unity, equity and visibility – all of which are at the core of the Atlanta Pride Committee’s mission,” said Atlanta Hawks Pride Council Member and Director of Equity and Engagement for Atlanta Pride Steven Igarashi-Ball.

 

Staying true to Atlanta Decatur native, award-winning singer-songwriter and LGBTQIA+ ally Ms. Keri Baby”  Keri Hilson performed some of her most popular hits during halftime. “Being able to perform on nights like this are as purposeful as they are fun! Sports and music have the ability to unite everyone across all orientations, nationalities and genders.”

Ending things on a positive vibe the Hawks flew away with a 116-107 win.

Trae Young tallied his 60th career outing with 30-or-more points and 10-or-more assists finishing the game with 36 points and 12 assists, to go along with a season-high tying seven rebounds and two steals.

Dejounte Murray  poured in 19 PTS, 8 REB. John Collins added 16 PTS, 2 REB, while Onyeka Okongwu  rounded off the scoring efforts with his 10th double-double of the season, notching 11 points, 11 rebounds.

Trade News: Ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline Atlanta traded Frank Kaminsky and Justin Holiday along with two second round picks to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Bruno Fernando.
