On Friday Skyhawks players, coaches, basketball operations staff, and business staff participated in the ‘Love Feeds’ event put on by ‘Love Beyond Walls’ outside of Woodward Academy in College Park.
“For Love Beyond Walls, service is not an event – it’s a lifestyle – and we love showing up for our community members all year to ensure the most vulnerable of our community are not forgotten,” said Terence Lester, Founder of Love Beyond Walls.
More than 40 volunteers including members of the College Park Skyhawks entertainment crew, and the Southside Crew Dancers handed out food, drinks, and hygiene kits to 100 plus local families.
“Anytime we can get our entire group out to do good work in the place we call home, we will jump at the opportunity, and we are so grateful to ‘Love Beyond Walls’ for having us today.” said Skyhawks General Manager Tori Miller.
Over the years, Love Beyond Walls has launched multiple campaigns that mobilize communities to address systemic poverty, social injustice, and the homelessness epidemic still present in America today. For more information on Love Beyond Walls, visit LoveBeyondWalls.org.
Sports fans don’t forget to checkout the SkyHawks on Sunday when the team face the Westchester Knicks in College Park as part of the team’s “Military Appreciation Night”. Tip off is at 2 p.m. ET at the Gateway Center Arena.
