The Atlanta Gladiators (4-3-0-0) saw their win streak snapped at three games after falling to the South Carolina Stingrays (4-1-0-0) in a 4-2 contest at the North Charleston Coliseum on Friday night.
Despite Kaid Oliver netting his second goal of the season to put Atlanta on the board in the second period, and Sanghoon Shin striking on a power-play, his first tally of the season to make it 4-2.
The Gladiators continue their road trip and will face the Solar Bears on Thursday, Nov. 10 In Orlando.
On Sunday, November 13th, 2022, the Gladiators will return to home ice to face the Savannah Ghost Pirates and retire #17 in honor of Derek Nesbitt.
Nesbitt ends his hockey playing career as the all-time leader in Gladiators goals (166), assists (258), points (424), and games played (512). The Seaforth, Ontario native spent nine of his 16 professional seasons playing with the Gladiators, beginning in the 2005-06 season as a rookie. “Nezzy” long served as a part of the leadership core in Atlanta, captaining the team in 2015-16, 2016-17, 2017-18, 2019-20, and 2021-22.
A ceremony will be held for Nesbitt’s number retirement. The night will also be celebrated with a meet and greet, along with a Nesbitt bobblehead giveaway.
