Announced by the team today the Atlanta Falcons have traded receiver Calvin Ridley to the Jacksonville Jaguars, in exchange for Ridley, Atlanta will receive future conditional draft capital from Jacksonville.
Originally drafted in the first round of the 2018 draft out of Alabama, Ridley totaled 248 receptions for 3,342 yards and 28 touchdowns. He had not appeared in a game for the Falcons since the sixth game of the 2021 season, finishing the year with 31 receptions for 281 yards and two touchdowns.
“As our team continues its growth, we continue our daily focus on improving our roster and believe this move is the best decision to make at this time. We appreciate Calvin’s contributions to the organization and wish him well on his next steps.”
The Atlanta Falcons have also traded safety Dean Marlowe to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for a seventh-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Falcons originally signed Marlowe as an unrestricted free agent in March. The seventh-year safety recorded seven total tackles (six solo) on defense and notched four special teams tackles in eight games for the Falcons in 2022. Marlowe has tallied 101 total tackles (67 solo), two interceptions, seven passes defensed and 15 special teams tackles in 55 games (17 starts) for the Panthers, Bills, Lions and Falcons in his career.
The Falcons acquired cornerback Rashad Fenton in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a 2023 conditional seventh-round pick.
Fenton was originally selected by the Chiefs in the sixth round (201st overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft out of South Carolina. The 5-foot-11, 193-pound cornerback has tallied 117 total tackles (93 solo), 20 passes defensed, two interceptions, one forced fumble and six special teams tackles in 47 games (16 starts) over four seasons in Kansas City.
