Atlanta Hawks Coach McMillan and Assistant Coaches hosts the 11th Annual Coaches Clinic

On Monday Oct. 17, the Hawks Basketball Academy hosted nearly 180 coaches for the 11th Annual ‘Coaches Clinic presented by adidas’ at Emory Sports Medicine Complex.

This free clinic provided coaches of all levels the opportunity to learn from Atlanta Hawks head coach Nate McMillan and his staff while networking with other coaches.

McMillan and his assistant coaches Joe Prunty, Mike Longabardi, Jamelle McMillan, Matt Hill and Nick Van Exel,  broke down the fundamentals of the game in 90 minutes and highlighted the importance of player development.

“It is so important for us as coaches to share our knowledge,” said McMillan. “By sharing our knowledge, it helps these coaches get better and teach the game the right way, which will help so many children and teenagers in the Atlanta area grow their love of the game.”

We are grateful to adidas for joining us in hosting our annual Coaches Clinic,” said Hawks’ Vice President of Basketball Development Jon Babul.

The coaches in attendance also, received swag bags courtesy of adidas filled with a journal and t-shirt.

“Over eleven years that we’ve been doing this and twenty five hundred plus coaches that have come through the doors and been apart of this clinics. You know the thing that I know our department loves and I love the most is the stories afterwards.” senior director of Hawks Basketball Academy Chris Jacobs said. “We’ll get phone calls and text messages and emails just about you know how grateful they were to be able to be a part of it, how thankful they were to learn from you know the pros and coach McMillan and you know that’s what it’s all about. It is giving back to the community given back to these coaches who then again can take what they’ve learned to their court their kids and also just you know make their experience enjoyable and fun for the kids who were participating in basketball and if we can help with that along the way then it’s a win.”
