Devastating End Of Season Loss for Atlanta United

In front of 43,312 fans Atlanta United fell 2-1 to New York City FC on Sunday afternoon at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the final match of the 2022 regular season.

In the ninth minute Gabriel Pereira opened the scoring effort with puttingĀ  NYCFC up 1-0.

In the end Atlanta came close to tying the score behind Gutman ,Ā but a diving save from Sean Johnson kept NYCFC ahead and ultimately resulted in the win.

ā€œWell, obviously, not a good season because we didnā€™t at least make playoffs, which for me should be a must for our franchise because our standardā€™s higher than just making playoffs. Thatā€™s for sure, so in that sense, it wasnā€™t a good year for us and for me personally as a coach.ā€said Pineda on how he would categorize this season for himself and for the team.
