Week 4 Recap: Dirty Birds 2-Game Winning Streak After Gliding Pass Browns

Coming off a big win against Seattle Seahawks, the Falcons returned home to face the Cleveland Browns at the Mercedes Benz on Sunday in week 4 of the NFL season.

It was so many things that stood out to me. So let me take you back to the begining.

Picture it, ATL on Sunday at the Benz….

Younghoo Koo opened the scoring with a 30-yard field goal.

Then CP scored the game’s opening touchdown with a 13-yard rush.

At the end of the 1st quarter the Falcons led the Browns 10-0

Brown’s Cade York booted a 29-yard field goal through the uprights to tie the score 10-10 at the end of the half.

In the 4th quarter it was running back Caleb Huntley who secured his first career touchdown after landing in the end zone and helping the team gain a 17-13 lead.

Then there was Browns running back who happened to be a Georgia native, that played for UGA, Nick Chubb who gave the Browns a 20-17 lead with a 28 yards touchdown.

Younghoo koo kicked a field goal to tie the score 20-20.

In the fourth quarter an enormous 10-yard holding penalty was called against the Browns Wyatt Teller.

With 2:33 remaining in the 4th, Koo kicked a game-winning 35-yard field goal to give the dirty birds the 23-20 lead.

In the end the Falcons grabbed their second consecutive win.

Grady Jarrett finished with five total tackles (three solo), two quarterback hits, 1.0 sack
and one tackle for loss in the Week 4 win over Cleveland. Jarrett has recorded at least 1.0 sack
in three of the first four games and has a team leading 3.5 sacks on the year.

Through four games, Jarrett’s 3.5 sacks lead all interior defensive linemen and are
tied for the fourth-most in the NFC among all positions.

“You just said it. We’re a team, and we’ll find different ways, and we believe in these guys, and we’ve got to keep improving. These guys believe, and that’s the way they work. So hopefully we can get back. We’ve got a huge divisional game down in Tampa next week, and we’ve got to get ready. We’ve got to go in there and assess where we’re at tomorrow and onto Tampa.” said Coach Arthur Smith, on his message to the team after the win.

Per TruMedia, the Falcons offense has an offensive successful play rate of 48.2 percent, the second-highest in the NFL this season.

“ I just thought it was a complete team win. The offense made plays when we needed to. The defense made plays when we needed to. Special teams. They came up big too. To be able to play all three phases that way is huge for us. I think it’s building a great foundation for the rest of the season.” said Mariota on his takeaways from the win.

After an impressive performance against Cleveland the Falcons announced they signed running back Caleb Huntley to the 53-man roster from the practice squad, and signed cornerback Cornell Armstrong to the practice squad. Due to a knee injury, the Falcons placed running back Cordarrelle Patterson on the Reserve/Injured List.
