Oops Atlanta Did It Again: Falcons Fall 31-27 to Rams

On Sunday the dirty birds clawed their way back defensively into the game, it was Mariota’s late fumble and a interception by Rams Jalen Ramsey that crushed Atlanta’s hope of a comeback win against the defending Super Bowl champions the LA Rams.

After the 27-31 loss, seven players recorded five-or-more tackles for the second-consecutive week. Atlanta is now 0-2.

Folks are already throwing in the towel and writing the dirty birds off.

Even though it appears to be the same sad story, from seasons past that the Atlanta Falcons are incapable of finishing strong in a game.

The question is, “Can this team pull off a big upset?” Absolutely! This is still a young team full of energy and potential. Even in a loss this team displayed heart and most importantly effort.

Is Marcus Mariota the ANSWER?  The former Tennessee Titans has a pair of legs that allows him to extend plays when pressure lingers. To his credit the offensive line has showed vast improvement. Atlanta’s offense recorded 261 total yards, including 90 rushing yards. While the defense forced a season-high three turnovers against LA. But..,,,,,it seems as Mariota is having the same issues he had before he wore the black and red jersey which was his turnovers.

Hopefully the vet remains healthy and  improve  on his ball security in the next four to five games, if not it is a possibility that we may see rookie quarterback Desmond Ridder front and center.

“When it comes down to it, at the end of the day, we just (have) to focus on… it’s a play here, it’s a play there. It’s just kind of what happens in this league. With that being said, I think it’s good for us to stay out here, be on the west coast, being all together. It’s what it’s about. We’ll find ways to all improve. We’ll all continue to get better.” said  Mariota about the take away from a 2-0 starting record.

“Even when it looks like they converted with (WR Cooper) Kupp on the one, be able to punch the ball out, the block punt, all the big plays, knowing you’re never out of the fight. And we had a chance at the end. And obviously they made a play down there and even so, we got off the field and at least had a shot at a hail mary.” said Head Coach  Arthur Smith.

Expect to see a fight from Atlanta at Lumen Field in Week 3.
