Atlanta United defeat Real Salt Lake

Bouncing back from their worst 3-0 home defeat in franchise history to Austin FC, Atlanta United returned to Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Wednesday to host Real Salt Lake.


In front of 42,509 fans Atlanta United defeated Real Salt Lake with Ronaldo Cisneros leading the front line for Atlanta.

Cisneros scored his first goal in the seventh minute.

In the 33rd minute and assisted by Matheus Rossetto, Cisneros found the back of net to put Atlanta up by two goals, while Real Salt Lake remained scoreless. Marking Cisneros six goal of the season.

In the 37th minute Johan Kappelhof cut the deficit by one. In the end Atlanta’s aggressive performance and strong defense propelled the team to a must need win.

“I thought today everyone was doing what they have to do to close down a game and I thought they did a fantastic job, so very happy about it.” said Atlanta United head coach Gonzalo Pineda.
