World Cup Coming to the ATL

It was the 1996 Olympics, 2019 Super Bowl, and now the 2026 World Cup.

On Thursday FIFA announced  that Atlanta will serve as one of the host cities for the 2026 World Cup.

This is the first time in history, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be played in three countries: Canada, Mexico and the United States. The ATL is among 11 cities in the U.S. selected to host matches.

Atlanta will become only the second city in the U.S. to have hosted a Summer Olympics, Super Bowl and World Cup.

“These three countries will be upside down and then flipped back again. The world will be invading Canada, Mexico and the United States with a big wave of joy and happiness, because that’s what football is all about.” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
