It just wasn’t enough to overcome a two-goal deficit allowed in the first half with Columbus Jonathan Mensah scoring a goal in the first minute and in the 45th minute Erik Hurtado kicked the ball into right side of the net for a 2-1 advantage.
“We are not paying attention to those little details. Starting with the kickoff – instead of putting them under pressure, we gave the ball away, and then we are under pressure at home, where we should be putting them under pressure, not us.” said Atlanta United head coach Gonzalo Pineda.
Atlanta (4-5-4, 16 points) returns to action Tuesday, June 14 when it hosts CF Pachuca in the American Family Insurance Cup at Mercedes-Benz Stadium 7:30 p.m. The team returns to MLS play Sunday, June 19 when it hosts Inter Miami CF at Mercedes-Benz Stadium kickoff is at 3 p.m.
