Hawks Eliminated in Game 5, Fall to Heat 97-94

On Sunday the Hawks looked to even the series 2-2 with another win at home. Unfortunately Miami took Game 4 in a 110-86 win, after collapsing Atlanta’s offense in front of a sold out crowd at State Farm Arena.

In a must win game the Heat dismantled the Hawks 97-94 in Game 5 without Jimmy Butler, and Kyle Lowry to reach the Eastern Semifinals on Tuesday night.

How It Started: Atlanta had ammunition to take advantage of the Heat injuries early. Hawks Kevin Huerter begin the scoring effort with a 3 pointer.

Midway through the 1st John Collins tied the score 14-14.

At the end of 1st the Hawks was up by one.

It was at the half, Atlanta pace slowed down. The Hawks could not find their rhythm and Miami reap the benefits with a 54-42 edge.

The Hawks narrowed the scoring gap late with the help of De’Andre Hunter who was Atlanta’s only offensive weapon.

How It Ended: In the final period with 41.6 seconds left, Hunter fouled out, while Miami maintained a three-point lead. In the end Atlanta came up short an was unable to recover and extend the series.

Miami turned up the heat to control majority of the game, with their monstrous defensive efforts focused on incapacitating Hawks star Trae Young. Standing at 6-foot-1, 164 pounds Young was outsized and Miami’s physicality was the advantage.

Similar to Sunday’s game Trae Young had a low scoring night against Miami. Young struggled and had more turnovers (30) than shots made, he finished with 11 points, 6 assists, 8 rebounds.

Hunter had an incredible performance and led the team in scoring a career high 35 points and 11 rebounds.

Up Next: Miami is now moving on to the Eastern Conference semi-final series against either Philadelphia or Toronto on Monday.

As far as the Hawks, their season is over. I’m pretty sure during the off-season there will be a lot of changes that the front office will be implementing. If I had one word to describe this season it would be “ROLLERCOASTER”. The Hawks had many highs and many lows this season. The only consistent thing the Hawks has is the inconsistency. Despite Ice Trae melting under the Heat, he can’t do it all by himself.
