In the second half, Brad Guzan was forced to leave the match after a non-contact injury in the 73rd minute and was replaced by Bobby Shuttleworth, who made his first appearance for Atlanta United.
“We didn’t score the goals, that’s what matters. That’s why we didn’t win. But I’m proud of the effort and how my players understood the tactics. We created a lot of chances and tried to push for a win until the end.” said Atlanta United Head Coach Gonzalo Pineda. “I don’t want to talk about the details about the injury, but it doesn’t look good. That’s why I’m sad, it’s not about the result or the performance, it’s about Brad’s (Brad Guzan) injury.”
Atlanta United announced today that Brad Guzan suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in his right leg during Saturday’s 0-0 draw vs. FC Cincinnati. The goalkeeper will have surgery at a date still to be determined this week.
