Despite the loss, College Park still has the longest game-winning streak in team and NBA G League history. But Capital City made every possible effort to stop Head Coach Steve Gansey, NBA G League Coach of the Month from pulling off his twelfth straight win.
The Skyhawks’ run in March helped the team secure a spot in the playoffs for the first time.
“I’m proud of this group. It’s a success story for this team,” said Skyhawks Head Coach Steve Gansey.
Justin Tillman and Sharife Cooper led College Park. Tillman scored 30 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Cooper finished with 19 points and 13 assists.
Capital City took a seven-point lead at halftime. Down 86-88 late in the third quarter, College Park made it a one-point game. Ultimately, the Skyhawks weren’t able to get the defensive stops they needed to gain the lead.
Capital City had four players with 20+ points, led by Jordan Goodwin’s 26 points and 10 assists.
The Skyhawks losing last night means the pursuit of winning the 2022 G League Championship has ended.
Says Skyhawks Head Coach Steve Gansey, “Every year is a learning experience. Losing hurts really bad and that’s because winning feels so good.”
