ATL Fall to Sixers

Atlanta Hawks fell hard to the Sixers 96-98 on Friday night at State Farm Arena.

With his first point of the night, Trae Young recorded his 5,500th career point. Young is the youngest Hawk to score 5,500 points (23 years, 75 days) and the fastest in terms of games played (227). Additionally, Young is the second‐youngest player in NBA history to reach those statistical marks, trailing only LeBron James (22 years, 97 days).

On Monday the NBA announced Hawks guard Trae Young was named to the Eastern Conference Player of the week for games played Nov.22-28, this was the fourth career Player of the Week honor for Young and his first of the 2-21-22 season.

At the end of the 1st period the Sixers took a 9 point lead.

At the half, Atlanta held Philadelphia to 13 points marking a season‐low for points allowed in a second quarter. It’s the first time since 2/8/18 at Orlando that the Hawks have held an opponent to 13‐ points‐or‐less in a second quarter.

In the end Philadelphia offense and defense seemed to be a problem for Atlanta, with the Sixers winning the game by two points.

Atlanta had five players score in double digits. Trae Young led the team in scoring a team‐high 25 points, 10 assists, four rebounds. Young recorded his 70th career 20‐point , 10‐assist outing tonight (seventh of the season), tying him with Russell Westbrook for most 20+ point, 10+ assist games since the 2018‐19 season. Both John Collins and Danilo Gallinari poured in 18 points, Kevin Huerter put up 12 points, followed by Lou Williams who rounded off the scoring effort with 11 points.

During the game fans also got a glimpse of Atlanta’s Hip Hop and fashion with rapper Waka Flocka Flame performance during the game.
