Hugo Roy led the Glads to a 5-4 victory with his first two goals of the season, in the home opener against the Orlando Solar Bears on Friday night at Gas South Arena on the Ortho Sport & Spine Physicians Home Ice.
Luke Nogard pitched in three assists. Rookie forward Gabe Guertler recorded his first career ECHL goal 83 seconds into the first period and tabbed an assist later in the game as well.
Glads goaltender Chris Nell played a crucial part in making stops late to seal the 5-4 win for Atlanta. Nell finished the night with 30 saves on 34 shots.

The Atlanta Gladiators (1-1-0-0) will face the Jacksonville Icemen (2-0-1-0) at Gas South Arena. This will be the first of 11 meetings between the clubs this season. The Glads enter tonight’s action on a full week of rest, while the Icemen have not played a game since last Sunday.
