One of the most anticipated films that will star Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx as boxing champion “Iron” Mike Tyson has many fans thrilled to watch Tyson’s life played out on the big screen. However there is one particular person that is not thrilled.
Tyson’s ex-wife, 55-year-old actress Robin Givens has served both Tyson and Foxx with a cease-and-desist letter last month to prevent the adding her name to the script.
Givens began dating Tyson in 1987. According to Givens, Tyson was physically abusive before they wed on February 7, 1988. Eight months later in October Givens filed for divorce, citing spousal abuse.
Givens attorneys claim she was “heartbroken” to file the motion but she doesn’t want to relive their romance. “While [she] has attempted to move on, she still finds herself fighting the abusive, demeaning and false accounts of their relationship by Mr. Tyson nearly 35 years later. It is time for Mr. Tyson to let this marriage be the relic of the past that it is,”
“As of now, Mr. Tyson’s attorneys have not received any cease and desist (letter), but there isn’t nor has there been any intention of including his relationship with her in his biopic. He wishes her well in all her endeavours,” Tyson’s rep said.
Currently the film is in production but there is no official release date.
