“Every year the schedule in this league is challenging because of the quality of players and teams in the W,” said head coach Nicki Collen, “but we are all facing the same unique challenges of playing in an environment with no fans, tight turnarounds and rosters changes. I’m excited to get started and see how our team gels and grows.”
“It has been a long offseason, and we realize that we are fortunate to play this wonderful game for our fans. While we wish we were in Atlanta, this will be a unique chance to play against everyone on the same floor all season long. Our 10 new team members have bonded quickly, and we are excited to start playing the games!” said President and General Manager Chris Sienko.
With Renee Montgomery and Tiffany Hayes opting out of the 2020 season, Elizabeth Williams and Monique Billings are the only two players returning to lead coach Nicki’s squad. There will be 10 new players that will suit up in the Dream red and gray including 2020 No. 4 overall draft pick Chennedy Carter, free agent veterans Shekinna Stricklen and Glory Johnson and Courtney Williams, who Atlanta acquired in an offseason trade from Connecticut.
The Dream will face each WNBA opponent twice during the abbreviated season with 11 games as the designated home team and 11 as the away team. Seven of Atlanta’s games will air on national television, including three on ESPN2 and four on CBS Sports Network.
The IMG Academy is the Official Home of the 2020 WNBA Season.
