On Monday Atlanta Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce joined the Georgia NAACP to end police brutality in a peaceful rally and march from the Richard B. Russell Federal Building to the State Capitol in Atlanta.

Pierce was joined on stage by assistant coaches and Hawks players Vince Carter , John Collins, Bruno Fernando, Damian Jones and Kevin Huerter.
“We’re committed to trying to make State Farm Arena a polling place so that Fulton County and Dekalb County and every citizen in this city has the right opportunity to vote,” said Pierce about voting issues, and his intentions to make State Farm Arena a registered polling place.
“I’m not here as the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks. I’m here as a black man. I was born a black man. I will die a black man. I don’t want to die because I’m a black man.”

Pierce, is a member of the National Basketball Coaches Association’s committee on racial injustice and reform.
In the shadow of the country’s on-going racial tensions, the Hawks have announced that for the first time in the history of the franchise it has designated Juneteenth as a permanent paid company holiday for all its employees.
