Win Som Lose Som; Ice Trae heading to Chi-town

In the return of Dewayne Dedmon to Atlanta, the Hawks scored a big 140-135 in double-overtime on Sunday against the New York Knicks at State Farm Arena.

Trae Young led the team with his 20th double-double of the season with 48 points and 13 assists.

Young became one of the three players in NBA history with at least ten 40-point games before turning 22 — joining Lebron James and Kevin Durant.

Young now has three 45-point, 10-assist games within his first two seasons, passing Michael Jordan’s record of two. Nate “Tiny” Archibald currently holds the top spot with five.

John Collins collected his 16th double-double of the season with 32 points (12-19 FGs), and 16 rebounds.

“When you have that lead late in the game and you feel like you should’ve won in regulation, then they get it and send it to overtime, it kills momentum.” said Trae Young. “That’s what they did, and it took a lot of energy out of us, but we found a way to keep battling, keep making shots and getting stops on defense.”

“I feel like execution.” said John Collins. “I felt like we stuck to our guns. We realized what was working and what wasn’t working and then, we went out on the other end and got stops and got rebounds that were huge. Big man, Dewayne Dedmon, coming in, fresh off the plane, and we needed it.”

“It felt good. It took a couple of overtimes to get it, but we dug deep and had to keep going.” said Dewayne Dedmon.

On Tuesday, Dewayne Desmond made his presence known again when the team faced the Orlando Magic with 14 points, and 9 rebounds. John Collins added 22 points and 8 rebounds, while Trae Young led the team in scoring 29 points and 9 assists.

But it wasn’t enough to pull off a win.

Up Next: The Hawks will face the Cleveland Cavaliers on tomorrow before going into the Allstar break.

Trae Young will be one of the five starters for Team Giannis in the 2020 NBA All-Star Game taking place on Sunday, February Feb 16. at United Center. Young and other teammates including, Joel Embiid, Pascal Siakam and Kemba Walker will take on Team LeBron for the All-Star title.

Young is the first Hawks player to be voted an All-Star starter since Dikembe Mutombo in 1998.

Although, the All-Star game will be an emotional roller coaster. I can’t wait to watch the 21 year old point guard shine.
