Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, public memorial will be held at the Los Angeles’s Staples Center on Feb. 24, according to a touching post Vanessa Bryant’s shared on her Instagram account.

The 2-24-20 date for the memorial service has special significance. Kobe and Vanessa’s 13 year old daughter Gianna, who had future aspirations of playing in the WNBA wore the number 2 jersey, while the Lakers star Kobe Bryant wore number 24 over the second half of his career. Bryant also played his entire 20-season professional career with the the Los Angeles Lakers team.

Earlier this week, Vanessa revealed that Gianna’s middle school had chosen to retire her number 2 basketball jersey.
