COLLEGE PARK – The College Park Skyhawks secured a win vs Greensboro Swarm Tuesday night.
A great performance from the starters and the bench led to a 130-108 victory.
College Park’s starters Charlie Brown, Bruno Fernando, and Brandon Goodwin combined for a total of 74 points.
Goodwin led all scorers with 32 points.
The Skyhawks bench contributed 34 points. Armoni Brooks and Kenny Gabriel led in bench points, combining for 17 points.
Beyond the arc, Armoni Brooks found ways to get open for shots. He rose up into a three-pointer. Then he did it again and again.
Brooks shot 3-4 from beyond the arc, knocking down 9 points.
“It’s just not trying to force things and let the game come to you. Staying mentally locked in when you’re on the bench so that you know what you have to do when you get in and going out there and trying to help the team win,” said Brooks.
The biggest lead of the night by the Skyhawks was 42. The most damage came in the second quarter of the game. The Skyhawks outscored Greensboro in the second quarter by 21 points.
“Let’s go one quarter at a time, let’s hold these guys to under 25 points a quarter. We knew this team was a top-three team in pace and top three teams in points per game,” said head coach Noel Gillespie.
Gillespie and his team had a game plan and they executed.
College Park scored 68 first-half points, a season and franchise-high. The team is playing .500, improving their record to 5-5.
“Getting any win in this league is hard, so being able to get a win especially at home is big and it gives you momentum going into the road trip, said Brooks.”
The Skyhawks hit the road to face the Grand Rapids on Friday at DeltaPlex Arena & Conference Center in Michigan.
