Hawks suffer first loss of the season to the 76ers 103-105

It was an explosive, high pace start for the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night when the team faced the Philadelphia 76ers at State Farm Arena

Trae Young showed his toughness amongst giants in the first by putting 13 points on the board.

Kevin Huerter landed a 3 pointer late in the 1st quarter to keep the 76ers trailing the Hawks by 9.

With 1:35 minutes left on the clock in the 2nd quarter, Sixers’ forward Mike Scott was ejected from the game for a Flagrant 2 foul on Hawks’ Damian Jones.

Evan Turner made a pair of free throws to give the Hawks the 65-63 halftime lead.

Early in the 3rd quarter Joel Embiid dunked on John Collins and taunted him with the “Shimmy”dance. Shortly afterwards Embiid and Trae Young both received technical fouls.

Close to the end of the 3rd, Vince Carter shot a Fadeaway jumper that kept the Hawks leading 76-73.

At the end of the 3rd the Hawks led the 76ers by 1 point.

Midway through  the 4th, DeAndre Hunter hit a 3 pointer, followed up by John Collins who stepped in front of Al Holford to tie up the game 103-103.

In the end, Vince Carter’s buzzer beating shot failed. The Sixers prevailed and walked away 3-0, while the Hawks suffered their first 105-103 loss of the season.

Trae Young led the team in scoring 25 points, 9 assists, and 4 rebounds. Followed by John Collins who compiled 16 points, 8 rebounds. De’Andre Hunter added 14 points, 9 rebounds.

The Hawks now (2-1) will face the Miami Heat back to back on tomorrow and at home on Thursday.
