After the game Coach Nicki Collen spoke
on the defensive improvement, ““I think it’s just being engaged. I thought we battled on the boards for the most part. I personally thought that [Reshanda] Gray spent a lot of time in the lane, probably more than she should have, so I thought that made it a challenge to keep them off the glass because she was always in there. Because of that — I challenged them on Tina [Charles]. I thought we were letting her do whatever she wanted in the first half. I thought in the second half, we made her pound it with her left hand a little bit. She gets in a groove when she can pound the ball with her right hand, so I thought we made her take much tougher shots in the second half. I thought we locked and trailed on [Kia] Nurse really, really well. I thought our switch and size were good when we did it.”
The Dream is now (2-8) and on a three-game road trip, seeking to break their three-game losing streak. The team will matchup against Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday, Seattle Storm on Friday and Phoenix Mercury on Sunday. The Dream will return home next Wednesday, July 10to face the Connecticut Sun for Carnival Kids Day at State Farm Arena!
