The Toronto Raptors’ won their 1st NBA championship in franchise history, ending the six-game series matchup against the Golden State Warriors at Oracle Arena on Thursday night.

In an unfortunate series of events Klay Thompson went down with a knee injury late in the third quarter jeopardizing  the Warriors chances of taking game 6 and forcing game 7.

Even with Golden State being shorthanded Steph and the Warriors fought a good fight but it wasn’t enough.

In the end the Warriors two-year reign as champions ended with the Raptors 114-110 victory.

Raptors Kyle Lowry led the team in scoring 26 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists, followed by Pascal Siakam who put 26 points on the board. Kawhi Leonard and Fred VanVleet each collected 22 points.

Even with Warriors Klay Thompson leaving the arena on crutches he led the team in scoring 30 points, followed by Andre Iguodala who gathered 22 points.

Five years ago, Leonard won NBA Finals MVP when the Spurs defeated Heat. Leonard becomes the first to win Finals MVP in both conferences.
