Can we Talk about em’ Hawks?

The Atlanta Hawks has had a roller-coaster ride of a season. Looking back at the season I can’t question what’s that little guy name again. If you have been sleeping under a rock or in a heavily sedated coma, that little guy name is TRAE YOUNG.

Young started off the season with many including myself wondering what was the Hawks thinking when they drafted this kid from Oklahoma with the intentions of him being the face of the franchise? After the All-Star game Trae has showed the nay-sayers why the Hawks choose him, with his consistent career highs and broken franchise records for a rookie. He is really living up to the hype and is becoming a house whole name in ATL.

“Ice Trae” nicknamed by Atlanta rapper Quavo, from his 2017 song “Ice Tray”, that fans have come to embrace. Young even took advantage of the his nickname by sporting “Icee” inspired kicks when the Hawks matched up against the 76ers game, in which the Hawks won and Young led the team in scoring 33 points and 12 rebounds.

Now talks are looming that he will become the Rookie of the year. Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce co-signed in a post game press conference that “Trae Young is the ROOKIE OF THE YEAR!”

However there is Dallas Mavericks’ 6’7 guard Luka Doncic, who easily could be the 2019 Rookie of the year. It’s undoubtable that Trae and Luka are neck and neck when it comes to who will be the “Rookie of the Year.”

The growth of the team cannot go unnoticed. After defeating the 76ers the Hawks was on the road to face the Orlando Magic and fell 113-149 on Friday.

On Sunday Atlanta faced the Bucks and loss 107-115.

Although the Hawks had a lot of losses there has been many memorable wins for this new team.
