1, 2, 3, 4 Overtimes For ATL

The Atlanta Hawks have proved that they are fighting for success this season after Friday’s game against the Chicago Bulls went into quadruple overtime. The Hawks ended up losing after 168-161 to the Bulls but not before they made some record-breaking highlights.

Rookie sensation, Trae Young, scored a career high of 49 points with 16 assists, the only rookie to do so in NBA History. Not to mention only 1 of 3 Hawks to ever score 47+ points and the only rookie to score 40+ in a game. It’s no secret that Young has been on fire in his first year and he continues to stay humble claiming the game was “probably the most fun game I’ve played in my career.”

The Hawks and Bulls remained neck and neck through most of the 3 ½ hour game. Zach Lavine also finished at a career-high 47 points for the Bulls, matching Young with 55 minutes of play time on the court. But it was Lauri Markkanen who broke a 159-point tie with 3 free throws after being fouled by Alex Len. The game remained close up until the last 5 minutes, making it the 3rd highest scoring game in NBA history.

Despite their Friday loss, the Hawks rallied on Sunday this time in Chicago, overtaking the Bulls 123-118. Center, Alex Len also scored a season high 28 points, and a personal best of 5 3-point shots. Young was ejected in the 3rd quarter after his 2nd technical foul for taunting player Kris Dunn with a stare. Markkanen led Chicago with 19 points along with Antonio Blakeney, who scored 17 points. This loss, however, breaks their 5 win streak.

The Hawks play the Miami Heat at 7:30 PM tonight in Florida, while the Bulls face off against the Pacers tomorrow in Indianapolis at 7:00 PM.
