It was a sad and rainy night in Atlanta, as our Dream got their winning streak ended by the Washington Mystics tonight. The final score read as 86-71 with Washington advancing to 15-11. Elena Delle Donne led scoring for the Mystics with 28 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. LaToya Sanders, Natasha Cloud and Aerial Powers assisted Delle Donne, combining for 34 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists. Unfortunately, Natasha Cloud didn’t have the chance to finish the game as she was fouled out with only 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter. The Mystics were 100% from the free throw line and shot 10% better overall than the Dream.
For Atlanta, Tiffany Hayes led scoring with 18 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Accompanying her was Angel Mccoughtry and Elizabeth Williams, combining for 25 points and 13 rebounds. Shots didn’t fall as much as planned and mistakes did occur for the Dream but the bright side is they’re still #2 in the league after the Seattle Storm and they have a few more games to go before the regular season ends. With time comes improvement and room for growth, which is what the Dream has been experiencing this year.. The 8 game winning streak ended tonight but as a result, history was made and that’s more than we can say for previous seasons.
Prior to this game, WNBA teams had a week long break from the regular season for the 2018 WNBA All-Star Weekend, perhaps the break could’ve slowed them down or changed the tempo of where they left off before the break. Next up, the Atlanta Dream face off with the Chicago Sky on Friday night at 7 PM EST! Keep running with the Dream because soon they’ll be running to the playoffs!
