NBA News: Hawks soar pass Knicks and land in the Conference Semis

The Atlanta Hawks advanced to the second round of the playoffs on Wednesday night by defeating the New York Knicks, 103-89 in Game 5 to win their first-round series, 4-1.

After his late 3-pointer in the final minute Trae Young took a bow and finished with 18 of his 36 points in the 4th quarter.

At the post game press conference Nate McMillan said in an opening statement, “I would like to start off, first, before we take questions, just really thanking my God for blessing me with another opportunity to coach. I wanna thank my family & my friends & the Hawks organization for all their support…”

The last time the Hawks were in the second round, was five years ago, coach Bud was the head coach and the star players were Al Horford and Paul Millsap.

Next Up: The Hawks will open up their Eastern Conference Semifinals series with Game 1 against the top-seeded 76ers, today at 1:00 PM EST.

In other news: The Phoenix Suns eliminated the defending champion King Lebron and the Los Angeles Lakers 113-100 in Game 6 in L.A on Thursday at the Staples Center and advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals.

With 18 years in the league 36 year old James had never lost a first-round playoff series until Thursday.
