Not so Dreamy; Sparks collapse Dream 76-71 in OT on Sunday

 

Sparks pulled away from the Dream with a 76-71 win in a thrilling overtime, ‪Sunday afternoon‬ at State Farm Arena.

The two teams battled hard throughout the game. It was in the fourth with one second left on the clock that Tiffany Hayes broke free and drove to the basket tying the score 64-64 and sending the game into overtime.

In the end, the battle was defeated and the Dream was blown out by the Sparks.
Hayes led the Dream in scoring 24 points. Alex Bentley put 12 points on the board, and Monique Billings gathered a career-high 16 rebounds.

Following the game, head coach Nicki Collen, spoke on the loss to Sparks and team effort, “I thought we defended like crazy, made their post inefficient, especially Chiney (Ogwumike) and Nneka (Ogwumike), who are both all-star post players.

The Dream now (5-11) will be on a 3- game road trip and will return home to State Farm Arena ‪Tuesday, July 23‬ to host the Sparks for the second time this season.
